A110 1600 clutch cable

Hi,

Can anyone please advise the correct way to adjust the linkages between pedal and clutch release fork in order to get the release bearing to disengage the clutch plate from the engine. I am having horrendous problems achieving this and am at my wits end. The car 's restoration is finished but not driveable until this matter is resolved.

Incidentally, my car has the arm shown on the illustration from GBS below, between items 10 and 14.

My Release bearing is like this one for 1600:

OK, then no problem: you can run with no play at all in the cable if necessary.
This type of release bearing tolerates very well to stay in contact all the time when running.

Absolutely, i ran like that for many miles, no problem...

Have you checked that the clutch cable relay with its 2 "ears" is in the right position?
Small ear on the pedal side, big ear on le clutch side is right
If not, the pedal is easy to push but the cable travel is limited...
I know i screwed that up for many years...

Yes that is what I am concerned about next. The length of cable travel at the pedal end needs to be the same as at the release fork end. If not presumably there is still too much flex along the cable length?

Do you find that with the clutch bearing up against the pressure plate splines, and the little ear connected to the pedal side, that the clutch pedal is heavy to push?

Yes, quite heavy and this is the way to go.

Ok, with the bearing against the pressure plate splines, how much further into the splines does it need to go to release the friction plate?
