Here is my heater control (faucet is moved by a cable):

You may notice that I added a connection with a short copper pipe (not visible) and 2 clamps on the return line (so has to dismount the heater "easily" ; however, some will argue that it creates additional source of leakage).
On the front (partly masking the faucet) is a large gauge cable for the battery switch (nothing to do with heater!)

but can you take some showing the rest of the rod that actuates the valve to see how it is supported


One of the pictures shows the valve with a cable operation. I did not know that type of operation existed

the valve with a cable come from R8, this mounting exist on the berlinettes before end of 1970 with command of heater from R8.
after this date, the valve come from R6 and the command from R12, like on your car.

ON my car the rod has a kink in it

I see from the posts there were different versions fitted to R8 R12 and R6

Mine is a A110 FASA 1972

I dare say i could make a straight tube but what i am missing is the piece ringed in the photo I think it is plastic

Has anyone got a spare one or can give me the measurements to make one

My kinked rod had a groove in it ( FOR A CIRCLIP)

does your straight rod have any grooves

It has flattened ends at handle end and hole at the valve end (I assume yours is the same

The tube ( metal) Is this steel or aluminium I assume 8mm internal and about 10mm external

where does this fit in the assembly ?? in the plastic bit or the bracket
