13 inch Gotti/Mad'in wheelrims

What is the generally accepted view on size of front wheel rims in order to avoid fouling the wheel arch please, for normal road use.

My car came with 7 inch rims but we think at some point it was used as a circuit car.

Outer rims are 101mm. Would it be better with 88 or maybe 76mm outside rims, reducing width to 6.5 or 6 inch respectively.

Tyres are 175/60 R13.

I think that for 7 rims at the front looks pretty good for a 175/60 R13 tire size. or 16/53/13

On several tires reseller web sites, I found that for 7 in. rim, the recommended size is 195 - 225 mm (best if in the range 205 -215 mm).
My feeling is that applies first for low profile tires (which is not the case on old cars). However, it is a guideline.

For 175 mm tire, best fit seems to be 5.5 in. rims (up to 6 in. acceptable).
